Something seems amiss in the latest project from stop-motion animation
house Laika Studios, who previously offered up the dark-chocolate treat Coraline and the breakthrough Paranorman;
it could be the character design, which doesn't seem as strong as it
was in the aforementioned creations. Perhaps it's also the story, which
feels cobbled together from pre-existing kids' movies -- with a
potentially shocking theme of genocide running throughout.
